It was a mere two weeks before Aleksandra’s emails swung in a more intimate direction, peppered with loving endearments and declarations of their future together. A smitten Dave began to make plans, discussing travelling to Russia to see her — but he also had his doubts. Unusually for someone her age, Aleksandra had no Facebook, Twitter or Instagram accounts. In fact, there were no online traces of her at all. She had emailed her phone number but told Dave he could not call her, saying “my phone doesn’t accept international calls”.

Internet Dating Scams
Email Scams Email scams are probably the most prevalent method of Russian scammers. An email scam is simply a case where some volume operation could be a man or a woman, and may be in Russia, Ukraine, Nigeria, or New Jersey contacts you by email, engages you in communication, and eventually attempts to bait you into sending money.
Russian scammers start the scam in various ways Of course there are variations. Sometimes you contact them – possibly unknowingly.
New related comments Number of comments in the last 48 hours. Dating scammer Tatyana (photos: Raven Riley) 4 new comments. Dating scammer diana dery 2 new comments. Dating scammer Nancy Milman from Accra, Ghana.
And it is true that if you enter this pursuit by web searching and selecting random search results you will almost surely encounter scams. It’s just that those perpetrating the scams are highly visible and do a LOT of volume. In the relatively short history of my site it is clear that Russian dating scams is the subject of greatest interest to my readers. That’s a little frustrating to me because scams are so easy to avoid. Before you write to me asking about possible Russian dating scams, or post your question here on my site, here’s the short answer: If you met this lady through a site that offers pay-per-letter services, she’s probably not “real”.
Her name, location, age, description, and pictures may be real, but she’s writing you because the agency shares the pay-per-letter revenue with her. Either that, or she’s not writing you at all, but rather the agency is writing you on her behalf. So the girl may be “real”, but either her intentions are not authentic or her messages aren’t even written by her at all. If this lady wrote you first to your direct email address but you don’t remember ever writing her, she is not real.
If you saw this lady on Match. Hey, I didn’t even intend to make a rhyme there:

Share via Email A woman walks by a shop window displaying wedding gowns in Kiev, Ukraine. After the annexation of Crimea, pro-Russian forces are stirring tension in this Black Sea port, and there are weekly standoffs between demonstrators who want to be part of Ukraine and those who want closer ties to Russia. But for all the political and economic chaos that has engulfed Ukraine in the past three months, one industry is still thriving: The economies of several Ukrainian cities are boosted by the surreal and disingenuous online bride business, and Odessa is the biggest hub.
It does not take long for a visitor to the city to stumble upon an “international date” — there are legions of western men in town meeting with young women they have met online, usually with the conversation facilitated by a translator. At internet cafes and homes across the city, thousands of women spend hours each day chatting to prospective suitors online. There is nothing like the prospect of economic hardship to facilitate intercontinental liaisons, and so, far from business drying up in recent months, the romance and “bride” trade is booming.
If anything, there are now more western men planning trips to Odessa than there were last year, when I accompanied a “romance tour” to Ukraine for a magazine story. I spent a week in Odessa with 29 men, all of them hoping to find a wife during their trip. They were mainly Americans, but there were also Brits, an Italian and a Saudi on the tour.
It has thousands of women in Ukraine and across the world on its books, available for chats and in-person meetings with lonely bachelors across the world looking for a wife.
RUSSIAN SCAMMERS BLACKLIST
The name of the person where the money is sent is the key issue in a Russian scam, and the same Russian scammer may use different photos. Also, the same set of photos may be used under different names. Most known Russian scams appear to be run by the same few groups of Russian scammers using different names and photos. Photos used in a Russian scam do not necessarily belong to the Russian scammer, and may be simply downloaded from the Internet.
If you would like to report a Russian scam or a Russian scammer and to be listed on the pages of Russian scams, please do it here.
A scammer usually finds a set of pictures of an attractive girl years old female (or, if the scammer IS an attractive girl, she uses her own pictures) and places personal ads in as many international dating catalogs as possible.
Our pictures below show some of the stunning Russian ladies who have offered themselves on dating and marriage websites recently. All of them hail from the far-flung outpost of Yoshkar-Ola, close to the Ural Mountains. One willowy beauty is a hard-up nurse who is desperate to leave her impoverished homeland and start a new life with a man in the West. Scroll down for more Stolen pictures of pop star Alsou were used by the conmen Another is a medical student, though she more closely resembles a nymph-like model from the pages of a glossy magazine.
And a third is a glamorous year-old who calls herself “Anna Safina”. In an email to one British man, Anna wrote: I’m sure that together we will have a lot of fun and spend great time! I want to meet you in the evening when you come from your work and kiss you tender, to hold you and to show you all my love. In reality, “Anna” was part of a scam masterminded in Yoshkar-Ola, the scale of which was revealed last week to The Mail on Sunday by the FSB, the Russian secret service, after a series of raids.
Thousands of people, including many lonely and gullible British men, have lost large amounts of money after entering into correspondence with women on websites, naively beguiled by their warm words, suggestive chat and the sexy pictures they attach to their emails. When they were asked to send money, which the women claimed was needed for British visas or to buy tickets for travel to Britain, the men readily agreed. They never saw the money or heard from the women again. Internet scam suspects held during a Russian secret service raid in Yoshkar-Ola In a final humiliating twist, they found out, usually far too late, that many of the sensuous “women” with whom they had been corresponding were actually men – part of one of the many sinister Russian mafia rings making a fortune out of such scams.
